HCR Law’s Central England office chooses Maggie’s as charity of the year

HCR Law in Central England is supporting Maggie’s Northampton as one of its charities of the year, reflecting its commitment to the local community and passion for people.

Maggie’s offers free support for anyone living with or affected by cancer, both through its drop-in Centres and online, helping people to feel more in control when a cancer diagnosis turns their life upside down.

Maggie’s Northampton will be the charity’s 25th Centre, opening in this autumn. Built on the grounds of Northampton General Hospital, the new Centre offers a safe, welcoming space for people to get support and advice from Maggie’s expert, caring staff.

With 150,000 people living with cancer in the East Midlands, and around 4,000 people diagnosed every year in Northampton alone, the new Centre is expected to see a minimum of 15,000 annual visits by the time it’s fully established.

The funds raised by HCR’s Central England team will contribute to the first year’s running costs at the Maggie’s Northampton centre, and the firm’s Private Client lawyers will also be providing a periodic legal surgery there to address various needs of those visiting.

Dominic Hopkins, Joint Head of the Central England office, who has been a member of the local board for the development of the Maggie’s Centre said: “It’s an honour to support Maggie’s as our charity of the year ahead of the opening of the Northampton Centre.

“Supporting local initiatives is a cornerstone of our values at HCR and reflects our passion for people. We’re delighted to be partnering with Maggie’s, which provides invaluable support for anyone with cancer and the people who love them.

We were delighted to have been able to contribute to the capital raising for the Centre at Northampton, so it is great that our team will now be continuing to work with the charity to help it deliver its vital services for the region on the opening of the new Centre”

Jodie Mutch, Centre Fundraising Manager for Maggie’s in Northampton, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have HCR Law supporting Maggie’s as a charity of the year.

“This support will help us continue providing free practical and emotional support for people living with cancer and their families, ensuring they never have to face cancer alone.”
